Slava Skripka (real name — Vyacheslav Igorevich Skripka; born May 30, 1990, in Zernograd, Rostov Oblast) — is a Russian singer and songwriter, vocalist and co-creator of the musical project SLAVA SKRIPKA. Together with composer, arranger and sound engineer Andrey Popov, he gained widespread recognition thanks to the song «Bobr», which reached number one on the Yandex Music chart in January 2025.
Despite its name, SLAVA SKRIPKA is not a solo project built around a single performer. Vyacheslav Skripka writes lyrics and vocal melodies and develops the stories and characters behind the songs. Andrey Popov creates the music and arrangements and handles mixing and mastering. Much of the material is recorded remotely: Skripka lives in Zernograd, while Popov is based in Nevinnomyssk.
Childhood and First Steps in Music
Vyacheslav Skripka grew up in Zernograd. His mother worked as a kindergarten teacher, while his father served in the military.
As a child, Vyacheslav attended music school for a time, studying violin. Later, he also tried learning piano, although he never received systematic professional music education.
Sport was another important part of his youth. Skripka practiced kickboxing for around seven years and later worked as a children's coach.
His interest in music began long before SLAVA SKRIPKA existed. According to the artist himself, he started writing and recording his own material around 2009. For many years, music was not his main profession and developed alongside regular employment.
From Furniture Production to a Home Studio
Before music began providing him with a stable income, Skripka worked as a packer at a furniture factory. He devoted his free time to songwriting and set up a small home studio in the attic.
Some of his future songs were conceived directly during work shifts. Vyacheslav recalled coming up with vocal melodies and lyrics while packing furniture, then recording the ideas later. Part of the material that eventually appeared on the album «Pod tvoim oknom» was created this way.
This routine continued for several years: daytime work, family responsibilities and music in the evenings or at night. Even the first noticeable successes did not lead to an immediate transition into a full-time professional career.
Andrey Popov and the Creation of SLAVA SKRIPKA
Vyacheslav met Andrey Popov around 2020. Skripka was looking for someone to mix one of his songs and approached Popov as a sound engineer. Their working relationship gradually developed into a permanent creative partnership.
In 2021, the musicians decided to develop the project together on a more focused basis. Because they lived in different cities, most of the work was done online and via video calls. Skripka recorded vocals and sent ideas, while Popov developed the musical side and brought the recordings to a finished sound.
The project name came from the vocalist's surname. At first, the musicians considered simply using the name «Skripka», but eventually settled on SLAVA SKRIPKA. Andrey Popov supported the idea of using his partner's name despite being a full member of the duo himself.
Early Competitions and Television
Before the mass success of «Bobr», SLAVA SKRIPKA had already achieved several notable results. In 2021, Vyacheslav Skripka won a music competition organized by the RU.TV television channel. For a musician from a small town, it became one of his first opportunities to reach an audience beyond the local scene.
The next television milestone came with the «MuzRaskrutka» show on MUZ-TV. In 2023, the project appeared on the program with the song «Ne perezhivay» and won the episode.
These appearances did not make SLAVA SKRIPKA widely famous overnight, but they gave the project its first television exposure and experience of working with audiences beyond social media.
«Pod tvoim oknom»
On February 8, 2024, SLAVA SKRIPKA released their debut album «Pod tvoim oknom». The record contained ten songs recorded over the course of several previous years.
The material is based primarily on Russian-language pop music with synthesizer arrangements, dance-oriented rhythms and direct melodic songwriting. Skripka himself described the project's style as dance synth-pop with a vintage touch.
At the same time, the album does not follow a single emotional tone. «Bez tebya ne spitsya», «Ne perezhivay», «Sigaretnyy dym» and «Kray» are closer to traditional romantic lyrics, while several other tracks reveal a lighter and more ironic side of the project.
Renat Mukhambayev and Misha Zuev took part in the recording of «Nizko letaem».
«Bobr»: From an Unusual Line to Number One
On August 30, 2024, SLAVA SKRIPKA released the single «Bobr». It was this song that changed the scale of the project's audience.
The musical foundation was written by Andrey Popov. While listening to it, Vyacheslav Skripka unexpectedly imagined a person sitting at the same table as a beaver. The absurd line was initially treated almost like a joke, but Popov suggested developing the idea and keeping it in the song.
After recording the first demo, the musicians tried to make the arrangement more contemporary, but eventually returned to the simpler original version. The lyrics, built around a conversation between the protagonist and a beaver, stood out sharply from typical pop songwriting and proved well suited to memes and short-form videos.
Alongside the main version, a sped-up edition and the remake «Bobr ("Zimniy son", Remake 2024)» were released, the latter referencing Alsou's song «Zimniy son». A separate «Bobr (Clean)» version followed later.
The song's popularity began to grow in autumn 2024. It spread through music-service recommendations and social media, generating numerous user-created videos and remixes. In January 2025, «Bobr» reached number one on the Yandex Music chart, while SLAVA SKRIPKA's monthly audience on the platform grew to several million listeners.
The song was written by Vyacheslav Skripka and Andrey Popov. The musicians separately emphasized that they created the track themselves and did not use artificial intelligence in the songwriting process.
Musical Style
SLAVA SKRIPKA is built around accessible, melodic pop music in which synthesizer-based production is combined with direct vocal lines and conversational lyrics. The early recordings are characterized by elements of synth-pop and deliberately simple arrangement choices.
Vyacheslav Skripka's lyrics rarely rely on complex metaphors. He uses everyday situations, recognizable expressions, humor and short phrases. In lyrical songs, this approach becomes more direct, while in humorous tracks it can become intentionally absurd.
«Bobr» strengthened precisely this second side of the project, although most of the album «Pod tvoim oknom» was written in a different tone. For that reason, it would be inaccurate to view SLAVA SKRIPKA solely as the creator of a single meme-driven song.
Releases After «Bobr»
After the rapid rise in popularity, new releases did not appear immediately. In 2026, the project returned to a regular release schedule.
On April 10, SLAVA SKRIPKA and Yan Dylan released the collaborative song «Zhdu». Slowed and acoustic versions followed later.
On April 28, the single «Nu-nu-nu ay-yay-yay» was released. During the summer, it was followed by «Ya u deda», for which a separate music video was filmed. The song was also featured in the film «Ded Fomich».
On August 28, 2026, SLAVA SKRIPKA released the collaborative single «Yozhik» with the group CHILI. The release continued the project's line of songs built around vivid characters and deliberately simple, memorable imagery.
Personal Life
Vyacheslav Skripka is married and is raising three sons. Family responsibilities were part of his life long before professional success: the need to support those close to him was one of the reasons he combined music with regular employment for many years.
After SLAVA SKRIPKA's popularity grew, Vyacheslav was able to devote significantly more time to studio work and live performances. At the same time, he maintained his connection with Zernograd, where he had originally begun recording songs in his home studio.

Significance of the Project
SLAVA SKRIPKA became one of the Russian pop projects to reach a broad audience through a combination of traditional songwriting, internet culture and a recognizable authorial style. The success of «Bobr» became the biggest breakthrough in the duo's history, but by that point Vyacheslav Skripka and Andrey Popov had already spent several years working together, taken part in television competitions, released their own album and developed a distinct approach to songwriting.
After the rapid rise in popularity, the project was not reduced to a single viral track. SLAVA SKRIPKA continued releasing new music, collaborating with other artists and developing both the lyrical and ironic sides of its sound.
